About

Leigh Attaway WilcoxLeigh Attaway Wilcox is a children’s book author and freelance editor & writer. She refers to herself as a teacher-turned-writer, but her love for writing actually began in childhood and received a surge of energy while teaching elementary students as a certified Elementary and Reading Recovery Teacher.

Crafting stories paired with the motivation to get them published led Wilcox to involvement in local and international writers’ groups. As an active member of the NC/NE Texas chapter of the SCBWI (Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) Wilcox has served as Chapter Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. She has also been elected as Secretary and served as the Annual Conference Co-Chair and Newsletter Designer & Editor for the Trinity Writers’ Workshop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Additionally, Wilcox is a charter member of an online critique group, the Serendipity Sisters.

With a deep appreciation for fantastic children’s literature, Wilcox loves sharing her excitement about reading and writing with young children in the community as often as possible.

Wilcox’s professionalism and passion for editing are exemplified in parenting magazines as well as numerous support group and club newsletters. Whether speaking or attending, Wilcox enjoys writer’s workshops, seminars and conferences.

Wilcox lives with her husband, son and chocolate lab in Frisco, Texas. Her son is a constant source of writing inspiration on topics ranging from parenting and Asperger’s Syndrome to going to bed (or the avoidance of it) and getting boogies out of your nose! Wilcox enjoys gluten-free baking and cooking in her spacious kitchen, but despises clean up. Her favorite meal is Green Chile Enchiladas (New Mexico-style) and she absolutely adores Dr Pepper.
