Crafting stories paired with the motivation to get them published led Wilcox to involvement in local and international writers' groups. As member of the of the SCBWI (Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) Wilcox has served as the NC/NE Texas Chapter Conference Co-Chair, Chapter Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. She also served as Secretary and as the Annual Conference Co-Chair and Newsletter Designer & Editor for the Trinity Writers' Workshop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Additionally, Wilcox is a charter member of an online critique group, the Serendipity Sisters. With a deep appreciation for fantastic children's literature, Wilcox loves sharing her excitement about reading and writing with young children in the community as often as possible. Wilcox's professionalism and passion for writing and editing are exemplified in numerous blogs and parenting magazines and have been showcased in various support group and club newsletters. She is the Assistant Editor for AutismSpot.com and frequently writes about raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Wilcox greatly enjoys writing about natural and healthy living, so her bi-weekly blog entries for Dougherty's Pharmacy serve as yet another writing outlet near and dear to her heart. Wilcox has been asked to speak on the local news regarding advocating for children with special needs and is often recognized by local advocacy organizations for her efforts. Whether speaking or attending, Wilcox enjoys workshops, seminars and conferences for writers, for parents raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other special needs or conferences related to healthy living in general (and often writes about her conference experiences for readers). Wilcox lives with her husband and son in North Texas. Her son is a constant source of writing inspiration on topics ranging from parenting and Asperger's Syndrome to going to bed (or the avoidance of it) and getting boogies out of your nose! Wilcox enjoys gluten-free baking and cooking in her spacious kitchen, but vehemently despises clean up. Look for Wilcox on Facebook or follow her on Twitter.
